Department: Maintenance

Primary Function:
To perform general yard labouring and janitorial duties within the Wabi plant and building infrastructure.

Tools & Equipment:
Power and manual tools – leaf blower, weed trimmer, lawn mower, chain saw, cement mixer, axe, handsaw, circular saw, hand drill, wheelbarrow, shovels, pry bars, hammers, broom, rake, picks, tote boxes, paint brushes, sandpaper, screw drivers, pilers, scraper, motorized compaction plate, mops, vacuum, water hose, broom etc.

Materials:
Sand, gravel, refuse, paint, ferrous / non-ferrous metals, lubricants, soil, detergents, compressed air, gasoline, propane, lumber, adhesives, steel wire, lawn fertilizer, soap, water, disinfectants, paper supplies, cleaners, foundry supplies, steel bars, etc.

Source of Supervision:
Maintenance Team Leader, Lead hand or designate.

Typical Duties:

• Performs daily routine of janitorial duties throughout the plant and administration buildings.
• Sweeps, washes and waxes floors throughout the plant and office building.
• Washes toilets, urinals, wash basins, tables benches and fixtures.
• Disposes of refuse and relines containers in the washrooms and lunchrooms.
• Maintains supplies in all dispensers.
• Moves any furniture or materials necessary to facilitate work.
• Cleans eyewash stations, emergency showers, locker rooms, lunchrooms, etc.
• Mixes and procures any cleaning compounds or mixtures used for cleaning or treating surfaces
• Receives work assignments from supervisor, lead hand or designate.
• Performs yard and infrastructure maintenance activities associated with the Wabi plant property (i.e. grass cutting, shrub / weed control, fence line, pathways, repairs, window openings, painting, shelving’s).
• Assists Material Handlers in loading / unloading materials and supplies.
• Performs various cleanup duties as required in the Yard, as well as related work within the plant.
• Handles material, tools and equipment manually.
• Cleans dirt from roofs, snow from specified areas, ice accumulation, yard wastes.
• Communicates inventory requirements to Materials Control.
• Washes yard truck and mobile equipment.
• Reports any defects in material, tools, and equipment to the designate.
• Maintains good housekeeping and observes all safety and general rules.
