Housekeeping Aid / Porter Temporary Part-Time
The Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness and servicing of assigned areas, care of cleaning equipment, efficient expenditures of soaps, cleaning chemicals, polishes and similar supplies. They are to perform duties with a minimum of disturbance to patients or hospital routine.

Rate of Pay:         $25.689 - $26.394
Hours of Work:   Combination of shifts between 6:00 am – Midnight; Monday to Sunday

Mandatory Requirements:
·       Secondary School Graduate
·       Ability to read, write, speak and follow oral and written instructions in English
·       Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks despite frequent interruptions
·       Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for patients in vicinity and co-operate with co-workers
·       Pushes and pulls mop, broom, vacuum cleaner, carpet extractor, floor polishers, automatic floor scrubber while scouring, waxing and cleaning
·       Excellent work record, including attendance
·       Demonstrate a commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients and visitors
·       Support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in the organization

Assets:
·       Ability to speak fluently in French and understand spoken French

Responsibilities:
·       Dust mop and wash floors; vacuum, spot clean carpets and shampoo upholstered furniture; dust furniture and equipment. Assists in moving furniture and equipment.
·       Clean window sills, tops of doors, windows, lights, and curtain tracks.
·       Clean interior windows, vertical drapes and blinds; vacuum fabric drapes and remove soiled drapes for cleaning and change cubicle curtains as required.
·       Clean and disinfect washrooms, tub rooms; clean and empty waste containers.
·       Clean and polish mirrors, glass panels, partitions, stainless steel equipment and door panels.
·       Replenish paper supplies, soap, paper cups etc.; as well as janitor closets.
·       Disinfect beds and furniture after discharge and prepare room for new admission.
·       Defrost and clean refrigerators and ice machines; clean microwaves and warming ovens.
·       Clean surgical instruments and scopes; clean laboratory instruments and equipment; clean nursery isolettes.
·       Perform a variety of related duties when assigned to specific areas such as patient rooms, offices, surgery, laboratory, emergency, obstetrics, dialysis and ambulatory care.
