Salary Range: $60,839 - $75,320
Expected Hours: 35 hrs/week
POSITION SUMMARY:
Timiskaming Health Unit is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for youth health and
asset-based community development. With support from the Planet Youth Project Coordinator,
Steering Committee, and Local Community Action Teams, you will lead the implementation of local
strategies to improve youths’ sense of belonging, and provide more activities for teens across
Timiskaming District.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the finalization and implementation of the Planet Youth Timiskaming Action Plan;
- Assist in the coordination and development of a various youth focused interventions across Timiskaming District;
- Finalize and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan in collaboration with a Project Evaluator and Local Action Teams.
- Attend Local Action Team and Steering Committee meetings. Ensure continuous collaboration and communication with the Local Action Teams.
- Collaborate with community partners;
- Facilitate engagement of broader community including youth;
- Administrative duties (organize meetings, prepare reports, budgeting, etc);
- Complete grant proposals for appropriate funding strategies as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Previous experience working with youth (12-18 years old), including Indigenous youth, newcomer youth, and 2SLGBTQ+ youth is considered an important asset;
- Familiarity with Planet Youth Timiskaming;
- Experience in health promotion, project coordination, or community development;
- Have comprehensive computer expertise in Microsoft Office to prepare presentations, populate spreadsheets and databases, and prepare professionally written reports;
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse team settings;
- Able to manage multiple deliverables, simultaneously and on-time.
- Fluency in both official languages an asset;
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet program requirements, including many hours during the after-school time period;
- Transportation to meet programming needs, travel throughout the entire district will be required;
- Required to comply with the Health Unit’s immunization policies, which requires vaccination against COVID-19 unless valid medical exemption is provided;
- The Health Unit is seeking a candidate with a degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Social Studies/Science, Health, Humanities, Non-Profit Administration, or other related fields, or equivalent experience. A Master’s Degree in Public Health or Health Sciences is considered an asset.
