POSITION:                   MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT / TECHNICIAN (MLA / T) -                           OPSEU

VACANCY:                 One TEMPORARY Part-Time

SHIFTS:                       7:00 am – 3:00 pm or 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm (Days, Evenings)

                                      Weekday & Weekend Work

SALARY RANGE:     $32.59 - $37.26 / hour

START DATE:           TBD

MANDATORY            -     Graduate from recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant /
REQUIREMENTS:           Technician course (MLA / T)

-       Current registration with College of Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Association of Ontario (MLPAO)

-       Proficient in specimen collection, handling and processing

-       General working knowledge with computers & Point of Care system

-       Knowledge of basic quality control practices

-       Must have an excellent work record, including attendance

-       Must demonstrate a commitment to ensure personal safety, the safety of fellow workers patients, volunteers and visitors

RESPONSIBLE         -     A combination of duties including specimen procurement and

FOR:                                  processing, and clerical tasks. May perform technical procedures under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Technologist in compliance with current legislation and Hospital procedure.

ASSETS:                     -     Recent experience in a Laboratory department

                                      -     Oral proficiency in French at an advanced or superior level

                                      -     Experience with Meditech LIS
