The Welder-Fitter Position
As a Welder-Fitter you are responsible to read and interpret blueprints and/or welding process specifications to fit and weld metal assemblies and join them together in a variety of scenarios while following all safety policies. To use appropriate tools for the task (ex. igniting the torch, clamping down pieces) and joining and lining up all pieces of the project as specified.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determining the appropriate equipment and welding method based on requirements.
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Setting up components for welding according to specifications
- Choose appropriate tools for the task.
- Operate angle grinders and other tools to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Identifying hazards or potential hazards.
- Other job duties as required.
Requirements & Skills
- Certification from a welding program at a trade school or community college.
- Proven experience as a welder-fitter or in a similar role.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, fabricate and weld.
- Experience with MIG and Flux welding.
- Experience using various hand tools (Drills, grinders, etc.).
- Able to measure accurately in metric.
- Work effectively in different environments.
- Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Familiarity with safety standards and OSHA regulations.

- Angle grinder
- Mig welding
- Flux welding
Work Schedule (44 hours/week)
Monday's-Thursday's - 7am-5pm
Friday's - 7am-1pm
